Jazz at the Movies

If I Were A Rich Man - Jazz at the MoviesPatrick Kerssen Trio
00:00 / 05:05

Jazz may have fallen out of the mainstream back in the 1950's, but one place it has consistently lived on is in film and theater. Thanks to the influence of movie musicals and the golden age of film, even the most modern movies make use of jazz compositional techniques in their scores.

Patrick and his trio will perform songs from:

  • Classic movie musicals

  • Modern films

  • Animated films

  • Large orchestral soundtracks

  • Various popular franchises

In addition, Patrick will discuss what elements of each song derive from the film scoring tradition of the forties and fifties, tracing the lineage and evolution of film scoring through the decades. This program is also available with a singer to lead sing alongs for audiences of all ages!
